About Dionne

I’m Dionne Watkins, a registered psychologist with over sixteen years therapeutic experience working with adults and adolescents across the UK and Australia.

My approach is warm, compassionate and practical. I believe that therapy works best when you feel understood, respected and able to work collaboratively towards changes that are meaningful to you. I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore what is happening in your life and develop strategies that help you move forward.

I have extensive experience working with anxiety, OCD and intrusive thoughts, depression, panic, social anxiety, health anxiety, low self-esteem, insomnia, trauma and PTSD, as well as stress, burnout, chronic health conditions and major life transitions.

I draw on evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, trauma-focused CBT and EMDR. I also have specialist postgraduate training in psychological therapies, including CBT approaches for a range of anxiety disorders as well as depression.

Before establishing Watkins Psychology, I have worked in trauma-informed services, NHS England, and private practice. My experience includes supporting people who have experienced trauma, sexual assault, abuse and domestic violence.

I also work with clients who experience difficulties associated with autism and ADHD. I am passionate about working with clients to help them understand how their unique brains work so that they make the most appropriate changes or adjustments to best suit their lifestyles.

I understand that taking the first step towards psychological support can sometimes feel difficult. My goal is to make that process as comfortable as possible and to provide therapy that is tailored to you, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety or intrusive thoughts, recovering from trauma, feeling overwhelmed by stress, or navigating a significant change in your life, I’m here to help.

I offer face-to-face and telehealth appointments from Watkins Psychology in Safety Bay, with Medicare rebates available for eligible clients.
